Ford Motor Company Supports Local

Boys & Girls Clubs

With Funds to Feed Hungry Children

Ford Motor Company Fund and local Ford Dealers are donating more than $100,000 to 66 Boys and Girls Clubs across the Pacific Northwest to help feed children during the holidays.

It is estimated nearly 24 percent of children are food insecure and unsure how their next meal will be provided.

Ford Focus on Child Hunger has donated more than $2 million across regional programs as part of the company’s work to address food access issues.

SEATTLE, Nov. 21, 2017

Ford Motor Company Fund and local Ford Dealers are donating more than $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Washington, Oregon, northern Idaho, Montana and Alaska to help feed children during the holidays. This donation is in response to the increased demand for nutritious meals during the holidays, when many children lose access to school nutrition programs. It is estimated nearly 24 percent of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided.

Sixty-six clubs across the five-state region are receiving Ford Fund grants ranging from $1,000 to $1,200 as part of the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign. This donation will expand the previously launched campaign and increase the number of children who benefit from this hunger initiative. The money will be used to provide meals and snacks at the Clubs during the holiday season.  With holiday school closures, the Boys and Girls Clubs see a seasonal increase in the number of kids needing services.

“As the holidays approach, many struggle with providing meals for their families,” said Larry Gregerson, program manager, Ford Motor Company Fund. “We hope this donation will inspire others to join us in the fight against child hunger.”

“We’re grateful for Ford’s continued commitment to end hunger,” Ron McHenry, board president, Boys & Girls Clubs Washington State Association. “The funds will enable our clubs to reach even more children who face food insecurity.”

Growing up in today’s world isn’t easy for a child, but for many kids in our community, it is tougher than you may think. All young people struggle with making friends and fitting in, but what if you also had to worry about where your next meal was coming from or how safe it was for you to go to school every day?

We dream of a world where EVERY child is given the opportunity to succeed in life and experience in life and experience a brighter future.

We provide activities designed to capture the kid’s interests, teach skills and build supportive relationships. These relationships provide members with the opportunity to communicate rules and expectations; take on meaningful challenges; build self-confidence and self-esteem; and offer hope and opportunity.

The kids need you. We purposely keep dues to the Boys & Girls Club low so that all children will have the opportunity to join. It costs the Club over $2000/year per child to provide the services.

For our 2014 Annual Campaign we are asking everyone to consider making a $10 or more monthly donation. Funds raised in this campaign will be used for general operating expenses and are absolutely necessary to run our successful organization. One person can make the difference in the life of a child.

Please ‘click to download the form’ or contact the Club directly at 509-764-9694.
